Manage shift requests and time off in Shifts
This article applies to frontline managers.
Shifts makes it easy to view and manage requests from workers. Depending on the schedule settings enabled for your team, workers can submit requests for the following:
-
Time off
-
Pick up an open shift at your location and/or an open shift at other locations in your area
-
Swap a shift with a coworker on the team
-
Offer a shift to a coworker on the team
You receive a notification in your Activity feed in Teams whenever someone makes a request. As a manager, you can approve or deny the request.
Review and approve or deny requests
You’ll see all requests from workers on the Requests tab in Shifts.
The Completed section lists all requests that you responded to and the In progress section lists all requests that are pending your approval.
-
To view a request that’s pending approval, do one of the following:
-
Go to the Requests tab in Shifts, and under In progress, find and select the request you want to review.
-
Select the notification in the Activity feed in Teams to go to that specific request on the Requests tab in Shifts.
-
Select Time off request or request within the shift in the schedule.
-
-
Review the request details, add a note if you want, and then choose Approve or Deny.
After you respond to the request, the worker receives a notification in their Teams Activity feed. If you approved the request, the schedule is updated with the changes.Note: If you’re using the open shifts across locations feature, you can manage requests from workers at other locations for open shifts that you shared with your team. If a member of your team requests an open shift at another location, the manager at that location must approve or deny the request.
