View channel cards in Microsoft Teams

Channel cards make it easier to see and manage channels from anywhere in Microsoft Teams with information that helps you quickly view channel specifics.  To reveal channel cards, hover over the channel name or avatar while viewing the channel, or whenever the channel is mentioned.   

Channel cards are not available on the mobile app.

Move away from the card to close it.

Channel card details

Every channel card will include the channel name, its team name and whether the channel is public, private or shared.  

It also shows: 

  • Channel Notifications Activity button: update notification settings.

  • Latest Activity: See when someone last interacted with the channel.

  • In this channel: View channel owners and members.

  • Get email address Mail button View the email address to send an email to a channel

Standard and private channels will show the number of members next to the channel type.  Organizations with Microsoft Purview will also show sensitivity labels. 

Based on channel settings and your channel permissions, a channel card might also include:  

  • Share channel with a person Allow someone inside or outside your organization to view a channel.: Share the channel with people inside or outside your organization.

  • Share channel with a team Invite teams that are inside or outside your organization to a channel.: Share the channel with teams inside or outside your organization.

  • Manage channel Settings button : Manage owner and member roles and settings.

  • About: View the channel description.

  • Get link to channel Insert Link button : Copy the link to a channel. 

  • Leave channel Leave team button icon : Leave a shared or private channel.
