View links next to a chat

When you open a webpage link from a Teams chat while logged into Microsoft Edge, the chat window opens in the Edge browser to view the content and chat side-by-side. This makes it easy to view links without needing to switch back and forth between apps.

To learn more, see Web links from Outlook emails and Teams chats open in Microsoft Edge.

  • If you don't have permission to view the file or the file is encrypted using sensitivity labels, you won't see a preview. However, you can request permission to access the file. Messages sent in chats with external users also won't include file previews.

  • Certain file types, such as .zip files, can't be previewed.
