Here are some best practices for earning Microsoft Rewards points so you can redeem them for gift cards, games, sweepstakes, nonprofit donations, and more.

Best Practices

  • To earn points, make sure you’re logged in with your Microsoft account on Bing, MSN.com, Xbox, the Bing mobile app, or the entry point you use to earn points.

  • Set Bing as the default search engine in your favorite browser to make every search count.

  • If you are at work, you can link your business account to your personal Microsoft account so that your business searches earn points. Learn more about account linking.

  • Engage daily with Bing. There are several ways to earn points, like searching with Bing, reading articles on MSN, downloading the Bing mobile app, using Edge, and more.

  • Visit rewards.bing.com or bing.com to find out about opportunities to earn more points.

  • Keep your Microsoft account up to date with your phone number.

  • Visit the redemption page to find new offers, view your current points status, or find the types of rewards that you can redeem your points for—like gift cards, gear, and donations to your favorite nonprofit.

  • Think about setting a goal for your points redemption and start working toward it.

  • Earn on the go with the Bing mobile app.

  • Earn on Xbox.

  • If Microsoft asks you to validate your account, be prepared to share your location.

  • Add microsoftrewards@email.microsoftrewards.com to your safe list to ensure you don’t miss communications from the Microsoft Rewards team.

Account Policies

However, if you engage in any of the following activities, your account will be called into question, and you may lose the ability to earn or redeem Rewards points. Depending on the violation, your account could be suspended, and any points earned may be invalidated.

  • Set up and maintain multiple user accounts.

  • Provide inaccurate account information, such as a false name, an incomplete or inaccurate mailing address, a nonworking phone number, or a false email address.

  • Use a service intended to alter the true IP address of your location, use a bot, cheat code, macro, mobile emulator, or other automated method to earn points with Microsoft Rewards.

  • Try to earn points from more than one country the same day.

  • Redeem points from outside the country where those points were earned.
