Hide, unhide, mute, add a chat to Favorites, or mark a chat as unread in Microsoft Teams
There are numerous ways to organize your chats in Microsoft Teams. Hide or mute chat conversations from your chat list to stop receiving notifications. Add frequent conversations to the top of your Favorites list for quick access. Mark a message as unread as a quick way to remind yourself to look at it again later. You can also leave a whole chat thread or delete individual messages you've sent.
Hide a chat

Go to the chat, then point to reveal More options .

Select Hide to hide the conversation.
The chat and its history are hidden until someone posts a new message to it.
: Use your keyboard to hide a chat by typing /hide in the compose box, and then pressing Enter. See Use commands in Microsoft Teams for more keyboard shortcuts.
Unhide a chat
Unhide a chat that you've hidden before by using search.

In the Search box at the top of Teams, type the name of the person you were chatting with and select it from the list of returned names. You'll see that the chat history is hidden and the name appears in italic text to mark it as hidden.

Select More options > Unhide next to the name. The conversation now appears in your list.

If you don't see it right away, select Filter to search for it. Once you find the conversation, select More options > Unhide.

Select Show hidden chat history to see the conversation.
Mute a chat
When you mute a chat, you're still included in the conversation, but you won't get notifications from it. You're only notified of @Mentions.

Go to the chat, then point to reveal More options .

Select Mute to mute the conversation.

If you change your mind, select More options > Unmute .
: The Mute symbol appears next to the names of the chat participants to remind you that the chat has been muted.
Add a chat to the Favorites list
For quick access, you can add frequent conversations to the top of your Favorites list.

In your list of chats and channels, drag the chat to the Favorites list. You choose the order for the list items.

If you change your mind, select More options > Remove from section.

The combined list of chats and channels and the favorites list are part of the public preview program and might undergo further changes before being released publicly. To get access to this and other upcoming features, switch to Teams public preview.

The ability to create favorites is currently only available in Public Preview. If you leave public preview, you'll go back to seeing a pinned section. To see your favorites again, you'll need to re-add them after switching back into Public Preview.
Mark a message as unread
One way to remind yourself to read a message later is to mark it as unread.

Go to the chat, then point to reveal More options .

Select Mark as unread
The next time you open the chat, it'll appear unread.
