You can use Microsoft Family Safety to block apps used by family members on Windows, Xbox and Android phones. Select a tab for instructions on how to manage app blocking using Microsoft Family Safety.

Only Family organizers can block apps. 

To block apps for family members at account.microsoft.com/family 

  1. Sign in to your Microsoft account Sign-in

  2. Select the tile or card of the family member whose apps you want to block.

  3. Select the Apps and games tab to show a list of all installed apps.

  4. Select on the right of the app you want to block for that member, then select Block app.

  5. To remove the restriction, select again and then choose Unblock app.

To block apps for family members by using the Microsoft Family Safety app

  1. Open Microsoft Family Safety. 

  2. On the List tab, select the family member whose apps you want to block.

  3. Under the Apps and games section, tap the app you want to block for that member, then select Block app.

  4. To unblock, tap on the blocked app and tap Unblock app.

To block apps for family members by using the Microsoft Family Safety app.

  1. Open Microsoft Family Safety.

  2. On the List tab, select the family member whose apps you want to block.

  3. Under the Apps and games section, tap the app you want to block for that member, then select Block app.

  4. To unblock, tap on the blocked app and tap Unblock app.

You will need to repeat the process for each app, device or member you wish to block.
