How to renew your Microsoft 365 subscription

You can also renew your subscription by going to a retail store (in-person or online) and buying a Microsoft 365 subscription. You'll receive a 25-character product key, which you can use to renew at Microsoft365.com/setup.

1. If you have a physical box or card, look inside for your 25-character product key.
   
   If you didn’t get a physical box or card, check your email for a receipt that includes the product key.

   The product key is a combination of letters and numbers in this format:

   XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX

   

   If you have a physical box or card, the product key might be concealed with silver foil, which you scratch off to reveal the product key.

2. Go to Microsoft365.com/setup and, if prompted, sign in using the Microsoft account that’s associated with your Microsoft 365 subscription.​

   Important: Always check you are signed in with the correct Microsoft account when redeeming.

3. Enter the 25-character product key. When selecting your country or region, we recommend that you choose the country or region where you live or do your banking.

4. Follow the steps to complete the renewal process.

   Your subscription is renewed and the new expiration date appears. To learn how to verify that your subscription has been renewed, see Check your renewal status below.

When recurring billing is turned on, you’ll be billed for your subscription on your renewal date. If you turn off recurring billing, your subscription will expire on the date shown, and you won't be billed in the future. 

1. Go to the Services & subscriptions page in your Microsoft account dashboard.

   Important: Always check you are signed in with the correct Microsoft account when renewing.

2. Locate your subscription and then select Manage. 

3. Do one of the following: 

   • If you see a Turn on recurring billing link, choose it to turn recurring billing on. 

   • If you see a Renew link, choose it to renew your subscription. This will also turn recurring billing on. 

   • If you purchased this subscription through a third-party retailer such as Apple or Best Buy, you’ll see a Manage billing link. Select that link to manage your renewal through that retailer. 

   • If you see Paid with pre-paid card next to the subscription expiration date, you paid for the subscription with a pre-paid code or token, so you can't turn on recurring billing. You can buy a new one at Microsoft Store when the subscription expires. 

   • If you don’t see any of the links mentioned above, but you do see a renewal date or a notice of an upcoming charge, it means recurring billing is already turned on and your subscription will renew on the date shown. 

4. Follow the prompts to set up recurring billing for your subscription.
