Use a screen reader to create a roadmap in Project
Applies To„Project“, skirta žiniatinkliui

This article is for people who use a screen reader program such as Windows Narrator, JAWS, or NVDA with Microsoft 365 products. This article is part of the Microsoft 365 screen reader support content set where you can find more accessibility information on our apps. For general help, visit Microsoft Support.

Use Project for the web with your keyboard and a screen reader to create a new roadmap. We have tested it with Narrator in Microsoft Edge, but it might work with other screen readers and web browsers as long as they follow common accessibility standards and techniques.

Notes:

  • New Microsoft 365 features are released gradually to Microsoft 365 subscribers, so your app might not have these features yet. To learn how you can get new features faster, join the Office Insider program.

  • To learn more about screen readers, go to How screen readers work with Microsoft 365.

  • When you use Project for the web, we recommend that you use Microsoft Edge as your web browser. Because Project for the web runs in your web browser, the keyboard shortcuts are different from those in the desktop program. For example, you’ll use Ctrl+F6 instead of F6 for jumping in and out of the commands. Also, common shortcuts like F1 (Help) and Ctrl+O (Open) apply to the web browser, but not Project for the web.

Open Project and create a roadmap

  1. In your web browser, go to portal.office.com or login.microsoftonline.com and sign in to your Microsoft 365 account.

  2. To open Project for the web, press the Tab key until you hear “Project link,” and then press Enter. Project opens on the Project Home page.

  3. To create a roadmap, in the Project Home page, press the Tab key until you hear "Press Enter to create a project," and then press Alt+Down arrow key. The Create New dropdown menu opens, and you hear: "New roadmap, menu item." Press Enter to create a new roadmap. The focus changes to the newly created roadmap.

Note: If you do not hear "New roadmap" in the Create New menu, you might not have the right license to use Roadmap, or your admin needs to enable it. To learn more, refer to Why can't I see Roadmap in Project Home?

  4. To name the newly created roadmap, press Shift+Ctrl+F6 until you hear "Roadmap name region," press the Tab key until you hear "Untitled roadmap," and then press Enter. The Row details pane is opened.

  5. Type a name for your roadmap. When you're done, press Shift+Tab until you hear "Close pane button," and then press Enter to close the Row details pane.
