The Notes field contains comments you can enter about a task, resource, or assignment.

There are several categories of Notes fields.

Data Type     RTF

Notes (task field)

Entry Type     Entered

Best Uses    Add the Notes field to a task view when you want to display notes about a task. When you add a note to a task, the note indicator appears in the Indicators field. If you view the text in the Notes field or point to the note indicator, the first part of the note appears. If you double-click the Notes field and then click the Notes tab, the full formatted text of the note appears in the Task Information dialog box.

Example    Sean, Jamie, and Chris are assigned to the "Coordinate trade show" task. You have a list of important contacts that can assist in the completion of this task. You add the Notes field to the Task sheet, and then type the note, Remember to provide resources with a copy of the trade show contacts.

Remarks    The easiest way to enter notes is within the Task Information dialog box. Select the task, and then click Task Notes   Button image. Enter and format the note. You can change the font, style, size, and color of the characters. You can also change the text alignment, create a bulleted list, and insert an OLE object. Notes entered in the Notes field of a sheet view are shown without formatting. Notes entered in the Task Information dialog box are shown as formatted.

To avoid inadvertently deleting text or removing formatting information in a long note, edit notes only in the Task Information dialog box, and not in the Notes field in a sheet view.

Notes can be formatted, and have virtually no size limit. You can also insert OLE objects and bitmaps into the Notes field.
