The Finish1 through Finish10 fields are custom fields that can store any task, resource, or assignment finish date information you want.

There are several categories of Finish1-10 fields.

Data Type    Date

Finish1-10 (task fields)

Entry Type    Calculated or entered

Best Uses    Use the custom finish fields when working with interim plans. Assign a pair of custom start and finish fields to store the start and finish dates for the interim plan. You can then add the custom finish field, along with its corresponding custom start field, to any task view. A custom finish field is also useful for noting important dates on the Gantt Chart.

Example    You've set a baseline for your project and display the Baseline Finish field to your task table. However, now you've saved an interim plan and assign the Finish1 field to store the interim plan's finish date. You rename the field "Interim Finish" and add it to the task table.

Remarks    Dates in the custom Finish1 through Finish10 fields do not affect Project calculations. If no date is entered, the field contains "NA."

You can use custom finish and start fields to store interim plan finish and start dates. You can save pairs of start and finish dates as interim plans in the Set Baseline dialog box.

You can create value lists, formulas, and graphical indicators for any of the custom finish fields and you can add one of these custom attributes or rename a custom finish field in the Custom Fields dialog box.

Also, you can copy the custom fields you create to other project files in the Organizer dialog box.

Finish1-10 (resource fields)

Entry Type    Calculated or entered

Best Uses    Use the custom finish fields when working with interim plans. Assign a pair of custom start and finish fields to store the start and finish dates for the interim plan. To review the interim plan for when resources finish work on all assigned tasks, you can add the custom finish field for resources, along with its corresponding start field, to a resource sheet.

Example    You've set a baseline for your project and display the Baseline Finish field in a resource view to indicate the overall dates when resources complete work on all their assignments. Three months into the project you need to adjust for significant changes. You save an interim plan, and assign the Finish1 field to store the interim plan's finish date.
