It’s critical that customers use Viva Engage in their native language for company leadership engagement, company-wide communications, and communities. Viva Engage displays UI elements and notifications in the language that's selected in your preferences.

The only exception is Copilot in Viva Engage, which offers complete language assistance for Chinese (Simplified), English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese (Brazil) and Spanish. Limited support is available for all other languages supported by Viva Engage.

Set your language 

Viva Engage is available in several languages on different platforms. Typically, your language preference is set when the admin creates your account. Viva Engage adopts the language preference from Teams or the device if you run Viva Engage in a mobile app. If that language is unsupported in Viva Engage, the language defaults to English. 

You can change the language anytime from your account settings in Viva Engage.

  1. In Viva Engage, select the ellipses button next to your name, and select Settings  Yammer Classic Settings icon from the menu.

  2. In Account settings, on the Preferences tab, select the language that's shown. In the following screenshot, that language is English.

3. Select the language you want from the list.

Supported languages

The following 26 languages are available for your Viva Engage web, desktop, and mobile (iOS/Android) experiences: 

  • Chinese (Simplified) - zh-CN

  • Chinese (Traditional) - zh-TW

  • Czech - cs-CZ

  • Danish - da-DK

  • Dutch - nl-NL

  • English - en-US

  • Finish - fi-FI

  • French - fr-FR

  • German - de-DE

  • Greek - el-GR

  • Hungarian - hu-HU

  • Indonesian - id-ID

  • Italian - it-IT

  • Japanese - ja-JP

  • Korean - ko-KR

  • Norwegian (Bokmål) - nb-NO

  • Polish - pl-PL

  • Portuguese (Brazil) - pt-BR

  • Portuguese (Portugal) - pt-PT

  • Romanian - ro-RO

  • Russian - ru-RU

  • Spanish - es-ES

  • Swedish - sv-SE

  • Thai - th-TH
