Project has a Power App for working with online projects. The sections below have steps to help get you started.

Open a project in Project Power App

Projects that are only available to you in Project Power App will automatically open in that tool when you open them from Project Home. However, you can also open the Project Power App first, and then open any online project you have sufficient permissions to open - these are listed by default on the opening screen of the app.

  1. On Project Home, select the App launcher (the square of dots at the top left of the page), and then select All apps The menu of Office Apps

  2. Near the top, select Search all of your apps, enter Project, and then locate the Project Office app in the results (it has the white-on-green "P" icon). The app just below it (with a purple icon) is the Project Power App.

The text below the app icon will reflect the environment where Project has been deployed.

  3. Select the Project Power App to open it, or select its context menu and choose an action. If you plan to open the app frequently, it's a good idea to choose Pin to launcher.

  4. When you open the app, on the Projects tab, make sure to select the right system view: the default view is My Active Projects, which lists projects you created that are ongoing. To open someone else's project where you have access, select the All Projects view. The Projects tab in Project Power App, displaying the My Active Projects view

  5. When you see the project listed, select its name to open it.

Create a new project

  1. Near the top left of the app, select New Project. The New Project button in Project Power App

  2. Fill out the required fields on the General tab, then do one of the following:

  • Select Save if you want to add tasks or change other details of the new project before closing it.

  • Select Save & Close to close now and return later to fill in project details.

Pin a project from the Recent list

Project Power App's Recent list always shows the most recent projects you've opened in the tool. To keep a project handy even if it doesn't show up in one of your views, you can pin in if it is listed in the Recent list. Pinned items appear in the Pinned list, which is just below the Recent list.

  1. On the left, above the tabs, select Site Map  The Site Map button at the top of the left pane in Project Power App.  to expand the left pane (you can skip this step if it's already expanded).

  2. In the left pane, select Recent, then select the pin icon next to the project you want to pin.

  3. The project is now listed under Pinned, and the pin icon next to it in the Recent list changes - select it again to unpin the item.

Unpin a project from the Pinned list

  1. On the left, above the tabs, select Site Map  The Site Map button at the top of the left pane in Project Power App.  to expand the left pane (you can skip this step if it's already expanded).

  2. In the left pane, select Pinned, then select the icon to the left of the pinned project.

  3. The project disappears from the Pinned list. You can still browse to the project, search for it, or open it from any view that lists it.
