: Copilot in Outlook only supports work or school accounts, and Microsoft accounts using outlook.com, hotmail.com, live.com, and msn.com email addresses at this time. Any Microsoft account using a third-party email provider, such as Gmail, Yahoo, or iCloud, can still use Outlook, but won't have access to the Copilot features in Outlook.

What can Copilot in Outlook do?
Copilot combines the power of large language models (LLMs) with Outlook data to help you stay productive in the workplace.
Summarize: Quickly extracts key points from email threads.

Draft with Copilot: Generates full-length email drafts from prompts based on thread context and organizational information. Just type /, select Draft with Copilot, and enter your prompt in the dialog box.

Coaching by Copilot: Provides feedback on email drafts by suggesting improvements for tone, sentiment, and clarity. If you like the suggestions Coach offers, you can apply them directly to the email draft by selecting Apply all suggestionsEmail coaching with Copilot in Outlook.

Themes by Copilot: Generates AI-generated themes based on users’ context, style preferences, and interests. Open the custom theme creator to build your own theme or click one of the other tiles to apply a default Copilot theme.

: The feature is available to customers with a Microsoft 365 Copilot (work) license.
Create a meeting invitation from within an email thread: Copilot creates a meeting invitation for you, based on an email. The meeting title and agenda are filled in for you, and the email thread is added as an attachment. The people on the email thread are included as meeting attendees, and you can quickly review and edit the invitation, then send it out.

Summary by Copilot is available via the Summarize button at the top of each message thread.

Draft with Copilot and Coaching by Copilot are available from the Copilot button on the ribbon when you're drafting a message.

To use Apply Suggestions for Coaching by Copilot, select the “Apply All” button after coaching feedback is provided to rewrite the draft with feedback incorporated.

You can create a meeting invitation with Copilot by opening an email thread and using the Schedule with Copilot button on the ribbon.

Chat with Copilot is available when you select the Copilot icon from the navigation header. This option is only available for businesses with a Microsoft 365 Copilot subscription. Sign in with your Microsoft account or visit Where can I get Microsoft Copilot? to learn more.

Themes by Copilot are available in Appearance Settings.
Copilot in Outlook was evaluated through extensive manual and automated testing. More evaluation was performed over custom datasets for offensive and malicious prompts (user questions) and text and image responses. In addition, Copilot in Outlook is continuously evaluated with user online feedback.

Copilot scenarios in Outlook are only available on a user's primary mailbox. They are not available on a user's archive mailbox, group mailboxes, or shared and delegate mailboxes that they have access to. Copilot scenarios are not supported on mailboxes that are not hosted on Exchange Online.
Copilot scenarios in Outlook can't access encrypted emails. Support is coming soon for Microsoft 365 Message Encryption emails for which the ExtractAllowed property is set to true. Other encryption methods like S/MIME or Double Key Encryption will not be supported by Copilot scenarios.
Chatting with Copilot in Outlook is only available if you're using a work or school account and you're using new Outlook for Windows or Outlook on the web. Currently, the Copilot chat experience doesn't have context for anything you might select in the Outlook reading pane, nor can it search or extract information from specific Outlook folders.
Right now, themes by Copilot can be generated based on a place of interest, your current location, or your weather. Available styles include realistic, oil painting, and cartoon. Additional theme types, styles, and open prompting are not currently supported.
As with any AI generated content it's a great tool to get started, but it's important that you review, edit, and verify anything it creates for you.
Many languages are supported in Copilot scenarios. The quality is expected to be highest in English, while in other languages the quality is expected to be improved over time. More languages and locales will be added in the future. Find more information at Supported languages for Microsoft Copilot.

Eligible users of MicrosoftCopilot for Sales can bring relevant information from their CRM or ERP tools while summarizing and drafting emails. In Outlook Web and the New Outlook for Windows, you will see a dropdown in the Draft with Copilot and Summary by Copilot experiences to enable this sales focus. The sales focus will be the default for emails with external recipients.
For themes by Copilot, you can style your theme and choose a refresh frequency to make your theme dynamic.
