Applies ToOutlook for Microsoft 365

Last Updated: February 27, 2025

ISSUE

Starting in 2025, Microsoft 365 consumer installs have new Outlook only and don't include classic Outlook. If you installed Microsoft 365 in a localized version and then installed classic Outlook via the standalone download, it's display language is English.

The standalone download link is referenced in this article, You can't open classic Outlook on a new Windows PC

The reason this issue occurred is because the standalone download link used en-us "clcid" instead of the appropriate locale

STATUS: INVESTIGATING

The Outlook Team is working on updating the standalone “Download” link for the localized versions of the article so that the download matches the localized version of the article. We will update this topic when that change has been implemented.

WORKAROUND

To mitigate the issue, uninstall the standalone version of classic Outlook and then install it from the Microsoft Store. The store install link is included in this article, You can't open classic Outlook on a new Windows PC.

When you click the link to the Microsoft Store it will match the language for your region, Change your country or region in Microsoft Store.

The Store link URL has the language indicated such as below en-US.
