STATUS: WORKAROUND
This issue occurred after a recent change to deprecate the "Edit Offline" functionality for SharePoint documents synced to Outlook. Per the guidance about that change, it is recommended that you sync SharePoint libraries to your computer using OneDrive.
Longer term the Outlook feature to connect to a SharePoint document library will be deprecated. In the meantime if you need to use the feature while you migrate your documents to OneDrive you can set a registry key to address the issue.
: This task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you follow these steps carefully. For added protection, back up the registry before you modify it. Then, you can restore the registry if a problem occurs.
