Windows 11 devices are now shipped with the new Outlook as the default mailbox application free for all to use. Support for Windows Mail, Calendar, and People ended December 31, 2024. Microsoft recommends you move to new Outlook or Outlook.com.
Note: The information in this article applies to the Windows Mail, Calendar, and People applications, and not to the classic Outlook for Windows. For information on the plan to migrate users from the classic Outlook for Windows, see Progressive stages of migration to new Outlook for Windows.
Support has ended for Windows Mail and Calendar
You can no longer send and receive emails or events using Windows Mail and Calendar. Any local emails, calendar events, and contacts stored in Mail, Calendar, and People will remain exportable following the steps in Export emails and contacts from Windows Mail or People to import your mail, people, and calendar events to new Outlook.
If you can't find some of your emails, events, or contacts in new Outlook
In most cases, if you are using a personal Microsoft account or third-party account like Gmail, Yahoo!, or iCloud, it may take a few minutes for your calendar data to sync to new Outlook. You can learn more about ways to troubleshoot here.
If you have been using Windows Mail and Calendar with only a mailbox connecting through IMAP or POP, your email, calendar, and contact files may be locally saved on your device because IMAP and POP protocols do not support syncing all data to a mailbox. To export your events from the Windows Calendar app, use the instructions at Export emails and contacts from Windows Mail or People and import to new Outlook.
