Use a screen reader to share a video in Microsoft Stream

This article is for people who use a screen reader program such as Windows Narrator, JAWS, or NVDA with Windows tools or features and Microsoft 365 products. Use Microsoft Stream with your keyboard and a screen reader to share videos through a web link or email, or directly to Yammer. We have tested it with Narrator, NVDA, and JAWS, but it might work with other screen readers as long as they follow common accessibility standards and techniques. You'll also learn how to share a link to a specific time point in a video.

Easily share a Microsoft Stream video with one or more people in your organization by sending them a link through email.
In Microsoft Stream, browse to and open the video you want to share.
To move to the Details area, press H until you hear the name of the video.
Press the Tab key until you hear "Share," and press Enter. The Video Share dialog box opens.
To select sharing by email, press the Tab key until you hear "Email," and press Enter.
You hear: "Search people and groups." Start typing the name or email address of a person or group in your organization that you want to share the video with. The search results appear as you type.
Press the Tab key repeatedly to find the person or group you want, and press Enter to select it.
Repeat steps 5 and 6 for each person or group you want to share with.
After you've added all the recipients, press the Tab key until you hear "Send and close," and press Enter. The email is sent and the Video Share dialog box is closed.
Share a link to a Stream video
You can copy the link to a Microsoft Stream video for pasting into a document or message. Anybody you send this link to with permission to view the video will be able to open it in Microsoft Stream.
In Microsoft Stream, browse to and open the video you want to share.
To move to the Details area, press H until you hear the name of the video.
Press the Tab key until you hear "Share," and press Enter. The Video Share dialog box opens.
To copy the link to the video to your computer's clipboard, press the Tab key until you hear "Copy," and press Spacebar.
To paste the link in a document or message, press Ctrl+V.
Tip: You can also copy the link from the browser address bar. Press F6 on the video page until you reach the browser address bar, and then press Ctrl+C to copy the address.
Share a link to a specific time point in a Stream video
To bring attention to an interesting part of a Microsoft Stream video, you can copy and paste a link that starts playback at a specific time point. Anybody you send this link to with permission to view the video will be able to open it in Microsoft Stream.
In Microsoft Stream, browse to and open the video you want to share.
Play the video or seek to the point that you want to share, and then pause playback.
To move to the Details area, press H until you hear the name of the video.
Press the Tab key until you hear "Share," and press Enter. The Video Share dialog box opens.
To select sharing the link to the time point, press the Tab key until you hear "Start at," and press Spacebar to fill the checkbox.
Press the Tab key. You hear the time point where you paused the video. If needed, you can type a different time point.
To copy the link to the video to your computer's clipboard, press the Tab key until you hear "Copy," and press Spacebar.
To paste the link in a document or message, press Ctrl+V.
Share a Stream video on Yammer
You can easily share a Microsoft Stream video directly to a person or group on Yammer. The video plays inline in the thread on Yammer.
Note: Make sure you're using and signed in to your Microsoft 365 account in both Microsoft Stream and Yammer.
In Microsoft Stream, browse to and open the video you want to share.
To move to the Details area, press H until you hear the name of the video.
Press the Tab key until you hear "Share," and press Enter. The Video Share dialog box opens.
To share the video on Yammer, press the Tab key until you hear "Copy," and then press the Tab key once. Press Enter.
The Share on Yammer dialog box opens in a new browser window. You hear: "Message body."
Optionally, enter a message to accompany the video.
To select the audience for your post, press the Tab key until you hear: "Add a group and/or people."
Start typing the name of the person or group that you want to share the video with. The search results appear as you type.
Press the Down arrow key until you hear the person or group you want, and then press Enter to select it.
Repeat steps 7 and 8 for each person or group you want to share with.
To post your message with the video, press the Tab key until you reach the Post button, and press Enter.
Use Microsoft Stream with TalkBack, the built-in Android screen reader, to share videos through a web link.

Share a link to a Stream video
You can copy the link to a Microsoft Stream video for pasting into a document or message. Anybody you send this link to with permission to view the video will be able to open it in Microsoft Stream.
In Microsoft Stream, browse to the video you want to share.
Swipe right until you hear "More actions," and double-tap the screen.
Swipe right until you hear "Share," and double-tap the screen.
To copy the link to the video to the clipboard of your device, swipe right until you hear "Copy to clipboard," and double-tap the screen to select.
You can now paste the link into a message or document and share the video with your colleagues.
